Fine Antiques & Jewellery. Silver Filigree Cigarette Case. A large and well made silver filigree wire cigarette case of Middle Eastern design. There are no makers marks but it tests as a high grade of silver, around the 850-900 level. The wires are thicker than usually found in Chinese and Indian examples and densely wound making this example quite heavy for it’s type. It has cartouches to each face, one being initialled C. It has a sprung catch opening which is still working. A great example for the collector. Very good for type and period, no significant knocks or losses to the exterior. One of the elastic tabs to the interior is not present and there are no elastics. Height: 8.8 cm (3 1/2 inch). Width: 8 cm (3 1/8 inch) across body. Weight: 130 grams (before packing).
